Screenprint Workshops

Screenprinting is the art of transferring your own designs onto fabric or paper. It’s incredibly versatile and rewarding. It allows you to print a one-off design on a t-shirt or a cushion, or print multiples of the same design in a repeat pattern which might be used as fabric for a tablecloth or curtains. You can create a dedicated area to print at home, or if space does not permit, you can easily use your kitchen table for small projects. Screenprinting offers up immediate and tangible results, and is so satisfying and rewarding.

I teach according to the following 2 mantras:

LEARNING BY DOING
KEEP IT SIMPLE

Come and try!

INTRODUCTION TO SCREEN PRINTING ON FABRIC

A weekend workshop for beginners and those wanting a refresher to get printing again.

You will learn the basics with me and we will play with pattern, colour and print. We will learn about textile inks and how to mix colours, cut basic paper stencils, print a border and a scattered print, learn simple registration techniques, get tips on good printing techniques, and have plenty time to experience printing with my guidance. And of course, have loads of creative fun. No experience needed, only curiosity and a desire to learn.  This workshop will enable you to continue printing simple prints on your own at home.

All printing materials and fabric will be provided for the workshop and a silkscreen and squeegee to take home. A small list of additional stationary supplies will be sent to you once you have registered for the course.

PHOTOGRAPHIC SCREENPRINTING ON FABRIC

In this 2 day workshop we will learn how to create light sensitive stencils which are then exposed onto a screen to create long lasting photographic stencils. This type of stencil allows greater detail than paper or acetate stencils and enables one to use hand drawings, textures, photographic images, and text. My students love the versatility of this technique - it also gives you the option of using found images (there are loads of copyright free images to source from in books and on the internet ).

I will give you information on how to make your own exposing unit for use in your home studio. You will also be given screenprint suppliers who will expose screens for you if you don't want to do it yourself which makes the process really easy.   Its amazing how sophisticated your images will look with this not too difficult technique. Its pure magic!

Please contact me if you would like to take part in this workshop. I will only put dates up once I have enough students who have completed the Introduction to screenprint workshop.

"Yda has an organic approach to textile printing, which makes her courses exciting and inspirational. She has developed some unique techniques of her own which she willingly imparts to all her students. Her courses are thorough and all encompassing, but also playful and entertaining. Yda is more than generous with the information and teaching she shares, enabling individuals to continue in their own space and equipping them to develop their own small business, should they so desire. I cannot begin to recommend her courses enough and cannot wait to be able to attend her latest course offering!"
